Pirates of Venus (Bison Frontiers of Imagination Series)
Published in Paperback by Bison Bks Corp (January, 2002)
Authors: Edgar Rice Burroughs, Thomas Floyd, and Phillip R. Burger
Average review score:

My Favorite Burroughs
Carson Napier has been my favorite Burroughs hero from about page 25 of my very old paperback copy of this book. He has all the heroic charms of John Carter while not quite being as over the top as the Warlord of Mars.

For plotting this book is stock Burroughs and his many imitators. If you loved John Carter try his not quite so wonderful brother. If you love the Green Star novels read the originals (much as the Calisto books are Carter's version of Barsoom so is Green Star Carter's version of Amtor). If you love Norman's Gor, Aker's Antares, or Carter's Calisto then do yourself a favor and read the lesser know inspiration for them.

the best book ever
i loved this book the first chpter was really slow but it picked up on the second, after the scond chapter i was hooked i couldn't put it down i had to know what happed so i ended up reading the whole thing in like a week and this is a big book

Me parece uno de los mejores libros que he leido, y creo que he leido demasiados. Es un libro que no se puede dejar de leer, me parece fabuloso. Es una combinacion entre accion y amor, creo es una amalgama perfecta.

Pokemon Stadium 2 Official Strategy Guide
Published in Paperback by Brady Games (21 March, 2001)
Author: Phillip Marcus
Average review score:

It Works!
This really helped me figure out how (including tips and hints) to play the game.

This is a really great book!
Before, I was stuck in the Poke Cup Master Ball stage and needed help to get past this psychic trainer. Grrrrr! No matter how hard I try, even if I use my mew from Gold, I can't get by this psychic trainer! His espeon beats me every time and he always always brings the espeon into battle with him! I got Mew from a Pokemon Gold and Silver mall tour my mom took me to and the super duper nice guy installed mew onto my Pokemon Gold cartidge for Game Boy and it is level 100 and I can beat almost any enemy I encounter except this aggravating psychic trainer! Grrrr! This book was the answer and it tells stats on all the trainers from all the cups including the new ones and it tells about the school and the lab and the mini games and that kind of stuff. It also tells about all the Pokemon and attacks. I don't like how you can't use items in the game and also your uploaded Pokemon don't gain experience on this game while battling. I also don't like that you can't use an uploaded Pokemon in the mini games. You have to play with the preset Pokemon for each game. Thanks a lot for this book! Now I'm finally past that grueling psychic trainer!

good golly !
This book is surprizingly good, it has tips and strategy to help you with all the different cups. This book tells you how to beat everything in the game, what all the "secrets" are... and teams that they think you should use, they even have their "unbeatable" teams... but over all this book is very helpful, i should be through the game in no time at all.

Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (May, 1984)
Authors: Melita Denning, Osborne Phillips, and Carl Llewellyn Weschcke
Average review score:

Get this one instead of The Power of Now
The one to get. Goes nicely with Condensed Chaos by Phil Hine.

Practical Guide offers highly insightful, esoteric - but accessible - methods of visualizing your goals and making them happen.

Draws from ancient wisdom with a modern, immensely effective spin.

Very very good!

By far the best book on visualization
This is by far the best book on visualization that I have encountered. The authors were internationally recognized authorities on the Western Mysteries and of the Ogdoadic Tradition, a hermetic school of which the keywords are knowledge and regeneration. This excellent work deals with all the important aspects of visualization: realizing that the source of supply is spiritual, the power of music and song, establishing a desire on the astral, mental and spiritual planes. The authors have a knack for explaining things simply and practically. They show you how to create and maintain an image, and how to infuse it with the power of your higher self, and even tell you how to terminate a process of visualization should you no longer want it to proceed. More advanced techniques include the Star Technique, the Multiplication Technique and the Master Method, all of them very easy to carry out. The appendices include wisdom texts to assist learning and motivation, information on prayer and worship (like building an altar), and advice on maintain sound mental and physical health. There are illustrations explaining the stairway to success and the star technique, plus an I Ching hexagram. This is a classic work in the field and one I would recommend first to those wishing to explore creative visualization.

A Kabbalistic Guide to Creative Visualization
While it is never explcitly stated, this book provides a Kabbalistic guide to creative visualization. Its theory comes out of the concept of the Four Worlds on the Tree of Life. For those familiar with that theory, this book puts this powerful technique in a framework they already understand. For those unfamiliar, it should still work incredibly well.

The wonder of the Four Worlds is that the idea is so common sense that the authors never even directly mention it. They lay out progressive techniques which access each level of Mind without dwelling on heavy occult theory. In other words, this book is useful to everyone, regaurdless of whether or not you know what the Ruach is.

The book basically takes you through the formative stages of daydreaming, on to planning, concrete visualization, and charging with Divine power. There is also a quikie technique called "the Star" which helps with matters of immediate concern. The Master Technique, as they call it, could easily be modified for use with the Middle Pillar or similar Kabbalistic Exercise.

I'm very impressed with Denning and Phillips in general, and this book is another example of how woderful their work is.

The Quilt Maker: A Story Collection
Published in Paperback by Southern Star Publishing (18 March, 2003)
Authors: Barbara Deming and M. A. Phillips
Average review score:

Better Than "Chicken Soup"
The stories in this collection are very human. The author has a special ability that transfers emotions right off the pages and into the reader. If you like the Chicken Soup Series, you'll love this book. If you don't, you'll love this book.

Quilting Stories At Their Best
There are quilters in my family and they, too, have read Barbara's book and rate it as highly as I. Her stories woven around various quilt patterns are most interesting. Some of them are heart gripping while others put one in the center of the setting as though experiencing the event itself. Also, the size of the book makes it handy to carry to read while waiting in line. One of my favorite stories is 'Flower Garden' on page 121, perhaps because it has sentimental value, and also because it tells a vivid story.

Worthy of a cozy armchair on a rainy afternoon--or anytime
The Quilt Maker by Barbara Deming is a fine collection of short stories revolving around the art of quilt making. Ms. Deming creates a patchwork of hand-stitched stories all wrapped up in love, nostalgia and romance.

Recreating Partnership: A Solution-Oriented, Collaborative Approach to Couples Therapy
Published in Hardcover by W.W. Norton & Company (15 July, 2001)
Authors: Phillip Ziegler and Tobey Hiller
Average review score:

This Book is Smart and has Heart....
Ziegler and Hiller are obviously gifted therapists. I have been doing therapy for over 20 years and recognize master clinicians when I see them. The authors are smart enough to cut to the heart of matter with their patients and yet seem to have a deep capacity for empathy and compassion. They write in an accessible style and their clinical vignettes are very compelling, not like other therapy books in which the vignettes sound phony and self-serving. It's been a long time since I read a book in my field that genuinely inspired me and this one qualifies. One even finds oneself envying their patients!!

Fantastic Book
Came across this book quite by accident--what a lucky break. Not only does it offer one of the clearest and most useful blendings of narrative therapy and solution-focused therapy I've read to date, it really explains in practical terms how to work with couples in a strength-based, collaborative way. The case examples and transcriptions include clear explanations of the authors' thinking and show how they use the various techniques of their approach. (They even have examples of mistakes they made and how they handled them.) Before I even finished reading the book, I was doing better work with couples. My clients are the real beneficiaries of my fortunate discovery.

Optimism toward partnership
If you've been looking for an optimistic, competency-based and solution-oriented approach for helping people with relationships, you'll be delighted and rewarded by this book. The authors use a construct of bad story/ good story to blend and organize techniques and metaphors from solution-focused and narrative therapies as well as other current authors and research. The result is a progression of chapters developing techniques or questions for different stages or situations. I especially loved the case examples. The last one, in particular, reminded me of how touching and rewarding our work can be.

Rescue
Published in Paperback by Hannibal Books (01 February, 2002)
Author: Jean Phillips
Average review score:

Rescue
Jean Phillips' book RESCUE not only was very interesting but it gave me a new perspective on life. I particularly appreciate the last chapter concerning trials and affictions. It was the most straight forward and easy-to-understand explanation I have come across.

One Woman's Walk of Faith
This book is, to put it simply, a record of one woman's walk of faith. It is a depiction of God's servants being repeatedly led into the "valley of the shadow of death" and experiencing divine deliverance. For those who consider foreign missions "pie in the sky" preaching to the heathen, this book will immediately disabuse them of such a misconception. As a teenage friend, college suite mate, and bridesmaid to the author, I have intimate knowlege of her early dedication to God and His calling in her life. This book is a lifelong record of her answer to that call. The comment has often been made that some Christians are "so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly good". One of the most appealing facets of this book is the revelation of the oh-so-human emotions of the author and her husband, as they faced many hardships and even death while fulfilling the ministry to which God called them. She makes no attempt to hide nor deny these emotions, but reveals them to the reader, and in so doing shows us that by facing our humanity and turning it over to God, He is able use us to glorify His name, regardless of where our place of service may lie.The author presents to the reader not only the nitty-gritty aspects of day-to-day mission work, lived out with her husband over a period of more than 40 years, but also, the simple joy to be derived from seeing lives changed by God's working through His devoted servants. After many years, during which our paths took different directions, it was a blessing to recently renew our friendship and observe, first hand, how the many trials and tribulations the author and her family have endured have matured her faith and her love and acceptance of all God's creatures.

Against all Odds
The Phillips' journey of faith in Africa, which lasted over 40 years, is one that can be an encouragement to all. The watchcare of God over them, even in the midst of the Rhodesian Civil War and many other hazards, is a miracle. God honored their faithfulness with His faithfulness to them during their lifetime of service.

The Rough Guide to Argentina
Published in Paperback by Rough Guides (11 January, 2001)
Authors: Rough Guides, Lucy Phillips, and Danny Aeberhard
Average review score:

very good
a comprehensive guide to argentina, very well researched and not overly cumbersome. It fits nicely with the rough guide series as a whole, which tends to be slighly more informative and gives you more background history ect. Not a complete guide to argentina, its a big country, but certainly the best of the lot

Recommended
I travelled through Argentina for 2 months with this book as my companion. The book is a very good general purpose travel book for Argentina, with good information about national parks but also but also about the cities and everything else.

A definitive travel guide to Argentina
Danny Aeberhard, Andrew Benson, and Lucy Phillips have successfully collaborated to produce a definitive travel guide to Argentina. Indeed, The Rough Guide To Argentina features coverage of all the attractions of Buenos Aires; vivid accounts of spectacular and varied landscapes ranging from the jungles of Misiones to the windswept vistas of Ushuaia (the world's southernmost town); comprehensive reviews of the best places for every budget level to stay, eat, and drink; and background information on Argentinean history and culture. The comprehensive and "user friendly" text is profusely illustrated with color photography and more than seventy maps. If you are planning a trip to Argentina, start your travel planning with a copy of The Rough Guide To Argentina!

It Leaves You Begging For More!
SEASONS is a great read! I devoured the book through in two sittings. Larnette Phillips is a wonderful storyteller, bringing characterization, setting and plot together with skill and charm. I'd like to read more about Chelsea and how she met Ski, and I'd particularly like to know how she's been getting along since the book ended. Please, Larnette, tell us more!

She has mastered the art of story telling and has used her talents in the ability to grasp her audience immediately, holding their attention until the turning of the last page, leaving the reader begging for more. Outstanding writing and wonderful expressions of emotion, Larnette Phillips should be on the Best Seller list immediately. The Shamballa Impacts: Their Esoteric Astrology in World History
Published in Paperback by Apollo Publishing Pty. Ltd. (20 May, 2000)

Average review score:

Outstanding Study of Shamballa Energy and its Impacts
Phillip Lindsay is a gifted writer and teacher. His analysis of the Shamballa Impacts and their effects on the world is informative, readable and very sound. Phillip's book is essential reading for the serious student of Ancient Wisdom and the role of Shamballa, 'the centre where the Will of God is known', in the affairs of the world.

Phillip has written numerous other books which are equally as helpful.

Phillip Lindsay, The Shamballa Impacts
This is a really interesting book about Shamballa, the energy of the Will of God, the First Ray. This energy is anchored on Earth etherically at the place called Shamballa in the Gobi Desert, the spiritual centre of our planet. This book describes the specific direct impacts Shamballa energy has had on our Earth over history. The first brought the spark of mind to Humanity, making individualisation possible. Since then there have been four other direct impacts, which have had both destructive and constructive effects. These events are illustrated by reference to specific astrological charts. What is great about this book is the author's ability to present the wide cosmic perspective but also to focus in on specific historical events in explanation. This book was written just before the fifth Shamballa Impact in the year 2000, the effects of which are now being felt, so it will continue to be a useful source of information about the changes that are occurring on our planet over the coming decades. The book also contains very useful appendices on Astrology and on the Seven Rays; as well as a helpful glossary.

A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23
Published in Audio Download by audible.com ()
Average review score:

The Good Shepherd
This is one of the best books I have read on how a shepherd cares and takes care of his flocks. It would be great if all ministers of the gospel would read and shephered the flock of God in such a caring manner. I am now a shepherd's wife. And I endeavor to avoid the pitfalls and horrors of ministry that I have come to know from those who rule over the people of God without a shepherd's heart. This is an excellent resource that should be added to all pastors' libraries. May God richly bless those who read this resource and go and acquire a shepherd's heart for the flock of God.

Insightful and revealing about our relationship with God.
This book is great. It gives you a glimpse into life as a shepherd and the qualities of sheep, good and bad. Philip Keller writes articulately and expounding on one of the best loved passages in scripture. Get this book if you can, it is worth it.

Excellent Book that teaches about God's character
This is an excellent book. It has improved my relationship with God immeasurably. If you want insight into how much effort God puts out on your behalf, read this book
